There’s nothing subtle about these daring Chinese Laundry Hint boots. Leather upper in a contemporary dress ankle boot style with an almond toe. Cutout striping accents contour the front vamp to the top of the front ankle, extra tall cupped heel and full front tie-up laces weave through the cutouts. Smooth lining and cushioning insole. chinese laundry heel: bounty

by eilatan.com on Nov.01, 2008, under new products, shoe reviews

available in black and brown: $113.99 regular price, $96.89 lower price.

So we just got this Chinese Laundry heel in. Its name is Bounty, which sums it up. (The names usually do.) It has an almost Western/hippie feel. Yea, I know, that’s a weird juxtaposition, but trust me. It’s like you could put on a pair of damned bell bottoms, a flannel, and a cowboy hat and get some major Clint Eastwood-style ass kicking done in these…all the while looking good. Bounty’s a sweet pair of heels. First of all, it’s COMFORTABLE. (Notice the caps.) Secondly, it stays comfortable. You know when you put on a heel and it’s comfortable for an hour and pure hell for the next five? This is different. Third, the price point rules. Chinese laundry is pretty good when it comes to that.

It comes in Black and Brown. For me, the brown expresses that Western vibe a bit more. Black just gives it a more modern, less vintage feel. I’d pair it with some skinny jeans (wide-leg would be sweet as well), and a loose-fitting top. They’d also look rad with a little smock dress, bare-legged or with tights. (Well, maybe leggings; I was never fond of the tights/peep toe combo.) Of course, the hipster leather jacket look would compliment the shoe’s look, too. I’m also picturing something in the hair, flowers or a headband or something. I almost forgot: they run big, so if you wear a size 8, 7.5 would probably be perfect for you. The sole actually has rivets in the toe area (aka traction), so you won’t die/break a bone in them.

I love these shoes; they possess that uniqueness. It’s a feminine, sexy heel with a “don’t mess with me” look.

All of this matching clothes to shoes stuff is making me tired. Who knew blogging would be so exhausting…

P.S. In a world where clothing and shoes are mass-produced, remember: you can always take something and make it yours.
